Jaguar & SS Gold Portfolio 1931-1951

Availability:  10 copies in stock

The SSI and SSII attracted attention even if they lacked horsepower. The 1935 SS range, now known as SS Jaguars, used engines revamped by Harry Weslake and the roadsters wee complemented by 1.5 and 2.5-litre models. The 1938 models had all-steel body shells on a new chassis with better suspension plus a 3.5-litre ohv engine. The SS100 had supercar performance for the time. It was these cars that went into production after the war as plain Jaguars. The Mk V, introduced in 1948, was the last of the traditional Jaguars and was available as a sports saloon or a Drophead coup. At the same motor show the XK120 was shown with the twin ohc XK engine. This is a book of contemporary road tests, specification and technical data, new model introductions, buyers guides, rallying, history. Models covered include: SSI, SSII, Coup, Airline, Drop Head Coup, 1.5-litre, 2.5-litre, 100, 3.5-litre, Maltby 3.5, Mark V, XK120, XK100, XK120C, XK 120 Coup. 184 pages, 400 illus. SB.
